Pool lighting must withstand continuous immersion and exposure to chlorinated or saltwater environments. The IP68 rating ensures the LED strip can operate permanently underwater without moisture ingress. However, proper installation is critical to maintain this protection.

Factory-sealed ends are essential. Never cut or modify the strip at the ends – this voids the waterproof rating. All power connections must be made outside the pool using appropriate junction boxes rated for wet environments.
Choosing the Right Mounting Profile
The aluminium mounting profile serves two critical functions: it provides a clean, professional mounting surface and it acts as a heat sink for the LED strip. For underwater applications, we recommend the open aluminium profile which allows maximum light output while providing structural protection.

Planning Power Feed Points
For installations longer than 5 meters, we strongly recommend dual power feed – connecting power to both ends of the strip. This prevents voltage drop which causes uneven brightness across the strip length. The voltage drop in a 24V system is minimal compared to 12V alternatives, but for professional results, dual feed is best practice.

Step-by-Step Installation Process
Step 1: Surface Preparation
Clean the mounting surface thoroughly. Remove any debris, oils, or sealants that might prevent proper adhesion. For concrete or tiled surfaces, ensure the surface is completely dry before proceeding. For new constructions, allow sufficient cure time for adhesives and sealants.
Step 2: Profile Installation
Cut the aluminium profile to the required length using a metal saw with a fine-tooth blade. Drill mounting holes every 30-40cm. Use marine-grade stainless steel screws that are resistant to corrosion. Apply a bead of pool-grade silicone adhesive along the profile channel before pressing it firmly into place.
Step 3: LED Strip Installation
Carefully press the COB LED strip into the profile channel, ensuring full contact with the aluminium for heat dissipation. Avoid stretching or over-bending the strip. For corners, use the natural flexibility of the COB strip – it can handle tighter bends than traditional neon flex.
Step 4: Power Connection
Install the waterproof junction box at the designated power feed point outside the pool. Route the cable through the junction box and make connections using appropriate wire connectors sealed with silicone. Test the connections before closing the junction box.

- Use marine-grade, UV-resistant cable rated for wet locations
- Maintain proper separation between low-voltage and high-voltage cables
- All connections must be made in accessible, dry junction boxes
- Label all cables and connections for future maintenance
- Use cable glands with proper IP rating for the junction box entries
Testing and Commissioning
Before filling the pool, perform a thorough electrical test. Verify all connections, test the dimming function if installed, and check RGB color mixing on multi-color installations. Document the installation with photographs showing cable routing and connection points for future reference.
Maintenance Considerations
One advantage of the COB LED technology is the reduced maintenance requirements. The uniform light output means no visible hot spots or dead zones that would indicate LED failure. However, periodic inspection of the mounting profile, cable connections, and power supply is recommended.
